    Hi,

I am about to do a clean install and have read the guide by BatBoy. It mentions to install the chipset drivers first and now for my questions...

    • Should I go with the chipset driver (Intel HM67 cougar point version 9.2.0.1019) from the Dell website OR should I go for the latest chipset driver from Intel (version 9.2.0.1030 here)?

    • 2nd question, when I ran the Alienware resource disk and after it detects what drivers were installed on the laptop, it did not find the HM67 cougar point driver on the system (no tick at the side of the name). Is this normal?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Hello and welcome to NBR, nrchy.

Install the chipset driver from Dell's support website. That goes for the rest of the drivers too especially Command Center. Use your Resource DVD as a last resort but always keep in mind to stick with the same or newer version of Command Center, never install an older version then the current one you have.

never use the resource dvd... and use to most recent driver from intel, not from dell.

I used the chipset drivers from the Dell Support Website and everything seems to be working beautifully with a Crucial M4 SSD (I did not install the Intel RST though)

i downloaded the latest drivers from the intel website, better to be safe than use something relatively old from dell.

Or you can try the Intel Driver Update Utility, what it do is the scan your computer for Intel's hardware and check for update for that particular hardware.
