It already is....sorta.
With upcoming new GPU's from nVidia and AMD,the 650M will be decent for todays games but start to struggle as times goes on and in the computer world hardware turnover to better GPU's relatively quick. -

But you listed hardware?

The only constant is my hardware, the software I am using will continue to get better with time, making handling the software more difficult for my computer. -
I wouldn't worry too much. We can't give you an adequate answer until you tell us what you do on it, what games, what programs, is it for work, play, do you need all the latest stuff or are you happy with the bare minumum, etc etc.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. When it starts to not run stuff the way you'd like you can upgrade virtually everything but the GPU, and you might find its 2 years down the track and its time for a new rig anyway. -
I have the R1, I'm scared I won't be able to play bf4 too well when it comes out D: I run crysis at 768p at the lowest possible settings, I've decided to wait to get the R3 for the new school year.. I would say you should be running everything fine for the next couple of years

You'll likely get 2 years of gaming from that machine - one year on high, one year on mid... And depending on your standards, one final year on low.
When will my laptop be outdated?
