Ive been having so many problems with my m14x. Some of you guys might know since ive posted some threads. Well these are my total problems i STILL have. FPS Drop in games where when i first had my m14x had no problems with and are easily playable with a normal laptop. FPS Drop while playing videos on youtube with google chrome. FPS Drop while just surfing the web. Idle process is like always 94 for some reason. Anybody know the fixes T.T. Its fustrating because everything was fine when i GOT my alienware m14x. i got it back in july.

I got mine in july also, and besides a few issues that were resolved I now have a borked mobo and I dont even game on it much.I wish you luck it's still a relatively new laptop so problems are inevitable, especialy rev 1 units, same thing with first m11 and my xps 15,It's the bad service after the fact that bothers me.Between my xps15 14 and m14x i had 5 new replacements and now waiting on a tech with a mobo and power brick service call.

Me too! I just got a confirmation email on a tech to replace mobo,I don't want some guy wrecking my 3 month old m14x,but dell gave the tech service the wrong phone number. They haven't even started yet and again dell support issues.I gave her my contact info 3 times.I have been hearing alot about gpu and fps issues like yours.I wonder if they're waiting for the next revision to repair these complaints.Hey for almost 2000 dollars in this economy, maybe it's just me but I don't think we should be treated like we bought a used netbook.

What do you mean by fps drop when doing general thing? I thought the term fps use only for gaming while CPU lag spike is use for general thing, if you having those lag spike, it might be because:

    1) Your laptop is overheat (not the actual one, sometime cause by having your laptop on too long without a restart).

    2) There's a unnecessary process running in the background (you can fix this by stop it in task manager)

I reset my laptop and it seems to be fine now and yea i meant cpu lag spike. i think it was google chrome actually. I was uploading videos and it kept giving me errors so i closed google chrome and the processes were still there. but im still having issues with ingame fps drop

Have you monitored CPU temps? I just got my refurb system and it seems to be triggering thermal throttling that drops frame rates. Dell is replacing the mobo.

glad to hear you got it going, but keep an eye on it.And throttling is when your pc gets hot the gpu and or cpu slows down as a safety to not overheat, kinda trying to simply put it,that dell has known heat issues with our machines. My friend has an asus overclocked 560gtx and it so much cooler and less fan noise. But remember we have alot of power in a relatively small case i.e 14 in.The asus has much better cooling design but its also alot bigger.I am no way going to bash my m14x,I will however say dells service is the worst!

Me too,,,But It's just not reassuring after speaking with dell moronic techs and reps.I hate to say that, but this is crazy. 'm tired of calling and having to jump through hoops over and over,I just hope they fix it already, none of us wanted a 2000 dollar paperweight,I cant even use mine, completely doa.I was going to tell ya, some people had some success with a good repaste and a lap cooler.I have both top quality, but my issue I believe is just a bad design flaw that was waiting to fail.I barely use my m14x I use my m11 for out of home, and my m17 for everyday play.I'm still waiting for a callback to fix my wrong phone number.Lol (dells such a joke)..............

That's cool! I am waiting for a tech to come now and replace my motherboard,I just want this over,I want the pc fixed before I have to keep calling and waiting. They just make it so frustrating to even deal with them. Even if you are nice, mean, it doesn't seem to matter.I'm glad you got something Rockstar,100 bucks in this economy is no small thing.GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!
