What are your idle temps for the laptop?

Currently my cpu temps are ranging from 50 - 70 C and Im running only chrome that's playing a video and a couple of tabs. Is this normal?

With Steam open in the background and browsing in chrome, my CPU temps are 55-60 C so your temps seem pretty reasonable.

Well, to be honest, this thing does run hotter than I'd like. My friend's W530 idles about 5 C lower. For comparison though, my old MBP would regularly hit 80 C on just youtube XD

Depends a lot on ambient room temperatures too. Mine runs 50-60C surfing, streaming video, office, etc. in a room that's about 75F.

we talking about alienware 14's with the new haswell processors? mine runs at 46-52 degrees C just surfing the web etc. Thats while sitting on 3 fans blowing directly into the intakes on bottom.

My m14x r2 CPU runs around 45-55 while just browsing around with a couple of tabs open, but then again i re-pasted. My old temps were always 55-70 just at idle. now my CPU doesn't go above 75-80 while playing battlefield 3.

My M14x R1 average around 50-60 with Chrome, Steam, Skype open at the same time, but if completely on idle without anything open, it usually sit between 45-55. And this is coming from a 10 months old thermal paste.

So it seems the Alienware 14 actually runs hotter than the previous versions?

There are lots of factors. As slickie88 pointed out, ambient temps also need to be taken into consideration. Do you have the back of your machine propped up? That keeps air flowing underneath.

When I'm gaming on a laptop I usually run the power cord underneath the back edge of the laptop for a bit of extra clearance. This typically drops 2-3C. So far I haven't felt the need to on the AW14 as tamps have never been an issue - no throttling with A03 BIOS and the latest nV beta driver. I could care less about fan noise since I'm always playing with my Sennheisers.

Hey Im lost my username and forgot password on this forum.. my bad...
I own m14x for over 4 years now... it's okay no problem
Temp is okay, not to overheat im using cooler pad and also turn off cpu boost (it really truth.. turn off your cpu boost and you good to go)...

okay this maybe out of topic little bit.. but I do need to ask CGSDR ... Do you still OC your GPU? coz you know I think you OC it for so long time on the forum? did u still upgrade nvidia driver?

Im planning to OC my gpu since now games are more demanding... I just need you to confirm is it okay for prolonged use?

thanks in advance.. all the best..
