    Hey guys,

Just got my new m14x r2 the other day, and was wondering if you guys could answer a few questions to make sure my system is running ok :)

The first, on high everything (except AA) and max resolution (1600 x 900) on diablo 3, i get between 30-50 fps depending on where i am/what im doing. Tonight, i tried playing while running the windows experience index test... and i noticed something strange. During the test, my fps (according to fraps) went from 35-45ish to 60-70 and as high as 90 at one point! This makes me wonder... is the increased load activating something that my computer otherwise isnt? Before running WEI, even when my fps dropped below 30 in high action areas, nothing "kicked in"... so it was my understanding that the 30-50 fps was WITH "Turbo Boost".

I figured that the gt650m was activated because i cant imagine the 4000 one can run D3 at those fps on high! If it is "Turbo Mode", is there a way to activate it permanently?

The other question is... during the test my fps also became super choppy at one point.. like 15-20 fps. Is this due to heat? Or was it just because it was possibly testing the cpu at that point and it got "Overloaded"? The max temps were 85 celcius (one core was 89). Video card was 66.

Sorry if these are silly questions, i am moderatly computer savy, just havnt built one in 2 years so im kinda outta the loop on hardware (and this is my first laptop lol).

Thanks in advance guys, i really appreciate you reading this :)

Hi Mattmira, the first thing I would do is to make sure the Optimus is properly set up. Here’s an article from the Dell support site that explains what is the Correct set-up of games on NVIDIA Optimus Driver, check it out and let me know how it goes.

    Hey Alex,

I tried white listing it... no change :(. Im not getting "bad" fps.. but people on these forums seem to be getting conciderably more than me with the same specs, which is kind of disheartening.

My specs btw, since i dont believe i mentioned them, are:

    CPU: i7 3720qm
HDD: 750 gb 7200 rpm / 32 gb SSD cache
    GPU: 650m 2gb
    Network card: Killer wireless 1202
    12 gb ram @ 1600 mhz
    Windows 7 64

I overclocked my gpu using afterburner 100/200 hoping to see an improvement, but found only 1-2 fps increase :( Really bummed.

    Thanks guys

D3 is behaving erratically on my system as well. Sometimes everything is smooth as butter with everything on. Occasionally, it stutters badly and will only solve itself with a system reboot. Both D3 and the launcher .exe are in the white list.

Check out this review from Notebookcheck, it says that the normal FPS for Diablo III is 45.4 FPS in Ultra(M14x R2), so everything seems to be ok with your system.

Remember that Diablo is a network based game and it's quality can variate according to the internet availability.
