I've had my m14x for 6months now with no MAJOR problems so far,as of this morning though when i fired the beast up i had a weird warp in the centre of the screen,i dont know how else to describe it,like a whirlpool of plasma in the dead centre about and inch across and and inch in height, obviously when i screenshot it there was no warp on the screenshot,i have not dropped it or spilt anything on it.
Has anyone else had this problem?after about 2minutes it completely dissapeared and is now working fine,is it possibly down to the cold temperatures during winter? The beast had been off for 2 days so the only explanation i can think of is that some gel or whatever is in the screen got cold and clogged up.
Once it had warmed up it dissapeared and have no problems now, also if it is a long term problem and something has happened to the screen are dell likely to replace it?i still have my one years electrical goods guarantee that is covered by the sales of goods act and the dell guarantee so surely this would be replaced for free?
    Thanks all for your responses

I had this exact same thing happen. It happened several times and it always went away but eventually a portion of the screen started to look washed out and the washed out area would move around the screen over time. I had to get it replaced.

The only explanation I can think of is that there was too much weight on top of the laptop in my bag and due to poor design it all was sitting on the middle of the screen causing this problem.

    But that's just my theory.

It could also be static buildup - I discovered that when I used the Alienware sleeve that the laptop came with along with a Razer Kabuto in between the keyboard and screen, the LCD would build up a static charge while in my bag that looked like a colourful warp at the center of the screen, and dispersed after ~30 seconds or so. Are you using anything to cover your keyboard while closed?

Thanks for your replies. the first picture highlights exactly what i had RioRyan,
And to icebreeze, i always put my laptop inside the sleeve it came in then put it inside my alienware carry bag, although i do not cover my keyboard with anything. So the static build up may be the problem i experienced rather than the screen slowly dying!
I also doubt whether it is down to the weight in the bag as i put it inside the alienware carry all then put it inside my own carry bag which literally just has the charger and a couple of discs in there.
Have not experienced the problem since though, so fingers crossed its a one off as i wont look forward to dealing with Dell otherwise

This is purely liquid plasma collecting inside the display at a particular point. Probably you put something heavy on the display while laptop was off. Apparently the screen back has quite a flex so any kind of weight impacts the display easily . It happened with me once. I took my laptop in laptop bag and accidently put mouse i same pocket. And when i turned it on, i had this pretty round swishy thing at centre. All i did was gently shake it from all possible angles ( held it straight, sideways, upside down and shook + tapped it "GENTLY" etc ) until the liquid dispersed back to its original place. Took like 3-4 minutes as i was careful. But it did work . for me atleast! :D
