I was trying to figure out if it would be possible to upgrade the HDD to an SSD because I have been on Crucial's website and they suggested upgrading to this
    http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/alienware-14/CT8638241#reviewDetails
which I have no problem spending the $250 to upgrade it if I can be certain that it works and will actually fit into the HDD space please any advice or comments if you have made this upgrade yourself. Any advice would pe appreciated because I can tell my HDD is failing so time is of the essence.

    m14xR2 and 14: 2 drives + 1 mSATA (total: 3)
Read the HDD part of this... https://na.alienwarearena.com/ucf/show/206880
it says the crucial doesn't work. I would recommend the Samsung 850evo. I also comes with cloning software so if you want to be lazy or don't want to do a fresh install you can just clone it.

All you would need to do is make a recovery usb from alienrespawn then shut the computer down remove all hard drive exept the new ssd youll be installing to. go into the bios set your drive to ide or raid. then reboot with usb inserted an hit the boot options F button and follow the prompts.

if your cloning with Samsung magician clone your boot drive with the software than if you have a caching drive(usually 60gb msata) decelerate it in rapid store software on your taskbar then just replace the main hhd with the new SSD.

Awesome thank you very much for the speedy response I think I'm going to go with the 1TB Samsung 850 EVO its only 60 bucks more but if it is going to work that's what is important to me and I'm not going to clone cause I want a fresh install of windows 10 any recommendations on steps I should take prior to that?

I would use alienrespawn to create the windows ten recovery image and the drivers should be there that way, that is assuming you already have windows ten installed. Otherwise use the media creation tool from the microshaft website to create a bootable usb drive but you will have to go to the dell website after if the drivers don't get found automatically by windows ten. im sure there are quite a few examples/walkthrough/guides if you google it.
