    Hi

New to the forum, have been taking my time lurking and using my M14x before making my first post.

In short, the VGA output capabilities of this laptop are suspect. I VJ regularly and need VGA output to chain projectors together. I have never run into any problems with my previous systems. I have two different 25" VGA cables, and only one of them allows the laptop to detect the projector model. If I use the other cable, I only get "generic PnP" device listed in the graphics properties. In turn, this limits the max rez to 1024x768 (my video stream runs at 720p!). I have also tried the "good" cable with an Acer LCD display, and it also fails in this case. Max rez is limited to 1024x768 and the image looks broken (black vertical strip on the left of the screen, maybe 1/4 screen wide).

On a highly-touted gaming PC, there should be no problems with outputting HD rez via VGA. I mentioned this to an AW tech (sounded Russian - is that the Costa Rica support center?) and he just got irritable and told me it was simply a limitation of the graphics. Sorry, but that sounds dismissive.

Can anyone add their own experiences with VGA output @ HD rez?

    Thanks
