I was reading through Dells documents on replacing the HDD, when I noticed you could remove the subwoofer quite easily. Does anyone know if theres some kind of better laptop subwoofer sold? Like maybe upgrading it to the one in the XPS 15 (JBL speakers)? Just general discussion on this would be cool ;)

As long as it is compatible with the Speaker, then I see no reason why you shouldnt be able to upgrade it, because 3 of my last experience with a tech swapping between my faulty subwoofer and a working one, the Speaker is always connected with the subwoofer. So I doubt if there're any M14x-compatible speaker system around too though.

subwoofer is not connected to speakers. speakers are in the grill ( panel where the alienhead power button is).

Thing is, You can certainly switch sub, but you will have hard time finding one that can fit inside this machine. JBL sub that you are referring to is pretty huge and of some other shape.

well if its bigger, nothing a few cuts won't fix to make it fit. Just saying if somebody really want to go that route its doable. Then you just gotta check the connectors and see if they fit. ;)

Well, you didnt mention the the route of " by hook or by crook".
In that case anything is possible as long as you are ready to mutilate your laptop. You can have Dual exhaust fan stuff like that :D

I dont think connecter would be an issue there are just two wires and i am sure all subs need just two for power. All you need to do is cut and attach or find some similar cable. ;)

@Gears, if you actually go through with this I'd love to see a build thread because it sounds pretty intriguing.
