It is very worth it to upgrade. My wifi link 1000 used to act up a lot. Disconnected, lower signal strength, low bandwidth, but I called dell and they sent me a free 6250. Maybe you can give them a call and see if you can get a free one. But if not, a 6250 is all you will need, and its like 16 bucks on ebay, easy to get access to in the laptop and install, almost like ram.

There ya go, 16 bucks, free expedited shipping from the US.

Nooo! People need to stop recommending the 6250 model 622AGXHRU. That specific model is a Russian card that does not support 802.11n. Trust me. I bought one and had to send it back. What you want is the 6250 model #622ANXHMW. It's only a few dollars more, but you'll be thankful:

glad to help. funny thing is I ordered that Russian card before my M14x arrived and had to send it back. I haven't had any issues with my 1000 but I received a new card today; it was supposed to be a 6250 but they sent me a 6200 (not the same seller I linked to). I'm thinking about sending this one back too and just sticking with the 1000.

I had the issue with the wifilink 1000. Talked to dell for about an hour, and they gave me a 6250 for free. That card is amazing, no flaws what so ever. If you don't want to talk to dell or if they don't give you the card, it's only around 20 on ebay. THe 6250 would be the better value, anything that is better than it isn't going to be by much and probably cost way more. Stick with the 6250 I would say. Killer NIC's don't really seem too much worth it for me in a wireless card.

No it shouldn't, the bluetooth is located under the palm rest. I replaced mine with the 6250 and i have bluetooth and it still works.

Well I had to send dell my intel 1000 after they sent me the free 6250. But it was a sweet deal. Free 6250 plus overnight shipping, got it the next day, and all i had to do was send them the old card.

Make sure you get the little one. It's a mini or half size or something. Go to the link I gave you a minute ago. He's got a direct link to intel's description of the one that works for the M14X.
