When I first received this laptop, after the first or second day I downloaded Crysis from direct2drive. When I started it up, I tried max settings just for the heck of it but it didn't work. (I was disappointed at the time but now I realize laptops are not meant for gaming on max settings) So then I turned it down to medium and it was running at a reasonable framerate (not exactly sure what framerate it was at but it was playable for sure).
But now, it won't even run on medium settings. It's barely playable and even at * low* settings the performance is choppy. I have no clue what I did to make this happen, I can't find anyone that can relate to this issue and I really want to know what I can do to solve this. I downloaded the latest intel graphics driver, but I am not sure about the nvidia one. Every time I try to download one from the site, it fails and tells me they couldn't find a compatible driver or something.
Also, I don't know how to find out what your latest Nvidia driver version is so can someone please help me with that, because that may be the issue but i think it's something else.
Another game that lags is roller coaster tycoon 3, and even after the night time lag free patch there's a little bit of lag at night (it's playable but this game came out 8 years ago and if its lagging even a little it bothers me) At day time it runs fine though...
Do not say how crysis is one of the top most demanding games or whatever... because I know it is, but remember I DID RUN IT ON MEDIUM SETTINGS AT ONE POINT.

Im thinking you need a repaste or something. I run like at 25-30fps on crysis max just stock.. Medium you should be getting 60+..
Id suggest calling Dell warranty. Somethings gotta be wrong -
first check nvidia driver
go to nvidia controlpanel. clcik on help and then system information.
update to 270.50 beta. thats what im running at the min.
now i can play crysis on a mixture of medium, high settings. usually get around 40fps in gunfights. no overclock
it will stutter the game takes a lot to run
also just check that you are running off the nvidia gpu and not intel. -
That must be the problem... how exactly do I update it though? I've tried updating it and always failed.
EDIT. I just tried downloading it and it did exactly what I expected. When it was doing the system check, it said it could not find a compatible graphics driver? What does this mean. -
to update it you will need a modded inf file from laptop2go.com. -
Ugh, so it's gotta be something else...
When you said modded inf file, that kinda made me not wanna do it. Like I said, it originally ran fine on medium settings. I did something (idk what) that is making it not run. -
try to reboot your system.
problem persists, try re-whitelist your game again.
problem persists, try reinstalling the drivers.
problem persists, check the temp.
if the temp is fine and problem persists, do hardware test.
if everything is fine after this, try diff drivers.
if still the same, reinstall your game.
still don't work, reinstall your OS.
still don't work, call dell and throw your m14x to their faces!lol. kidding -
Make sure your laptop is actually using the GT555m and not the onboard solution.

Completely uninstal nvidia drivers and try to download and install again, also delete the nvidia folder in C:
Unable to play Crysis on medium settings now?
