Hi I just joined this forum reading about alot of discussions about laptops.

Well my old Dell xps is on its last legs and I decided on an upgrade.

I am a poor college student year 2 and I want a laptop that can run LoL and can do other games as well.
All my friends recommended me the AW 14 because I tried one and man I am amazed by it.

    Here comes the problem.

    What do I upgrade?

My budget doesn't allow both the GPU and the IPS display to be added. So I could only choose one.

Help I don't know what to choose

the IPS 1080p or the gt765

    budget is roughly 1300$

I will try my best to sqeeze a bit more cash to have both upgrades...
if really impossible to do so, pick the better gpu and maybe get an external display in the future( if u play demanding games, coz LoL isn't)
if u are just a casual gamer and watch lots of movies and browse a lot with your laptop, get the better screen

just my opinion, i could be wrong :)

    Yeah I agree with hypersonik,

Trust me just wait until your next paycheck and squeeze out both the GPU and 1080p IPS screen upgrade. Here's a 10% discount code that I hope works for you 54MJ4KH1?S$R9R if it works then you should be able to get both upgrades. I'd call them up and like try to negociate over the phone. I was able to get my laptop for $1276 that includes shipping and taxes. That's with the upgraded screen and GPU

try the 10% off coupon code and you should be good. I just checked it and it is working!!!! You have to think clear and make your decision as the 10% coupon will be expiring soon. Haggle them on phone and I am sure you will get both the upgrades in your budget. And also don't forget to ask the $200 promo card since you are a student. Tell them whatever stories you can and get this puppy. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

There is no point in upgrading the screen and not the GPU. You won't be able to play games at 1080, you won't have a blu ray player, and the only thing that you will actually benefit from is the higher color gamut. If you HAVE to pick only one, get the graphics card. You can always use an external display for most/all of your gaming.
