Trying to figure out why m14x was making BEEPS at start-up, but unplugging USB FIXED?

My m14x was working for 1+ year, and one day, it suddenly started to BEEP non-stop, with no rhythm or sequence uncontrollably at BOOT.

Even trying to repair or boot Windows normally did nothing.

Some how, however, I was able to get on the desktop and "restore" to normal settings/factory.

It started doing it AGAIN a few days later and I remembered someone saying something about having USB devices plugged in.

So low and behold, I did (keyboard + mouse) , so I unplugged BOTH and it BOOTED! Eureka!

But why the hell is this? Is there still some underlying problem?

It is a showcase that some piece of hardware is failing?

I purchased the m14x in sept. 2011, so it's only 1.5 years old roughly
