I have this wifi card in my GF's M14x R2 and upgraded her machine to Windows 8 Pro x64:

    Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250

Her wifi works but it's very slow, and the device manager shows this:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the standalone drivers AND the drivers + software packages about a dozen times and can't figure out why it's having trouble installing?

    Got the drivers from here:

    Support for the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250

I've run out of ideas! :(

    On my M17x R4, I get 37mbits/sec but on her M14x R2, we only get 10-14mbits/sec.

    This is really frustrating.

I might just bite the bullet and downgrade her to a 2230. These fancy wifi cards are more trouble than they are worth!

Hello, I'm new here, first time post. I am also having this problem but in Windows XP SP3 x32 on a Sony Vaio VGN-NS130e laptop. I went to the Intel website and used the web update utility and it had me download the drivers and program. Then during install it stated that the current drivers were already installed. Odd,... any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I even tried reinstalling the WiMax drivers by going to the path C/ProgramFiles/Intel/drivers but it didn't notice anything new to add. Again,... odd. Could it be a disabled function in the card?

Have you tried manually searching for the driver?

From the device manager right-click the adapter and choose "Update Driver Software", then "Browse my computer for driver software", and then "let me pick from a list of device drivers..."

Once you get there look for the extract destination (default is C:\dell\drivers\) and load the driver.

    Hope it works!

The driver you are missing for the "Other Devices" you listed is the WiMAX drivers. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21997&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility for Windows 8.

As for the slow speeds I am not really sure since my m14x r1 maxes out at around 16mbits/sec when transferring from computer to computer but I told 30mbits/sec from the internet. Anyway hope that helps.

Here is a link to all the drivers for the 6250 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=Intel Centrino Advanced-N + wimax 6250

:hi2: I just wanted to say thanks. It has been about a year having to watch that stupid device manager warning. Ever since I upgraded from 7 to 8 and now 8.1 Windows has been a huge pain on the Dell Inspiron 11z I put them on.

Thank you! I have been banging my head against this very thing for the past few months as it seems Intel wouldn't pull this portion of the driver set up for me everytime I came about. Now it's all in proper working order! :D
