I want to disable the touchpad while having an external usb mouse plugged in, but enable the touchpad when there is no usb mouse. I HAVE TRIED THE COMMAND CENTER OPTION. It doesn't enable the touchpad when I unplug the usb mouse. Any help is appreciated. Also, Im using a razor deathadder black edition, and have the drivers for it installed.

synaptics touchpad app, hunt around in that and you have an option to disable touchpad when an external mouse is detected.

Just locate the synaptics icon in your notification area ( bottom right )

    Easy to find :)

That is odd as works fine on mine......................... going to go and check again brb

yep mine works perfectly every time.

you definitely been in the synaptics control panel under device settings and checked disable touchpad when external device is plugged in.

As someone else said, I would try reinstalling the drivers from the dell website or direct from synaptics

Thank you shak541! I never knew that there was this function. I guess Ill just let the buggy software be and use the manual switch.
