I have a led light that is stickied onto the top of my desk overhanging my laptop, it fell last night and hit the top of my alienware leaving a tiny grey scuff mark on the rubberized surface. Should I try to get it out using alcohol or paint thinner or leave it a lone??

absolutely not the paint thinner! lol..

if it's just a scuff it'll prolly just come off with the alcohol. if it's a scratch, you're kinda outta luck

@Kawasaki - Try a damp cloth. If it wont rub off then just call alienware. Ask them to see if they will replace it. They replaced my palm rest (had a small scratch when I received it).

When i ordered my first m14x it had a bump on the top of the lid, a bit like a pin but point up, dellaware said they couldn't send anyone to fix it as the laptop was new out and didn't have any parts to replace it.

I then i had to send it back for a refund, order a new one (which is coming Tuesday next week woo hoo).

If you do call them, what ever you do don't tell them you did it unless you paid for the cover.

well it wasnt a defect it was something that happened on my part, I am no way in hell sending it back and waiting another two weeks, its very small and not worth it. I will try the cloth or some alcohol

boy do i feel stupid, it came right off with a little bit of my fingernail and a damp cloth :)

gee you're lucky man. i had my macbook pro next to my alienware m14x and i turned the macbook a bit to face me and it scraped the m14x... to my shock the aluminium edges of the mbp scraped off about 1mm of rubber from the front of the laptop.. although not noticeable unless looking real close.. i stilll know it's there.. and worst of all i only had it for not even 24 hours yet!!!!.. so what i will do is sell it on ebay at a slightly reduced price... and buy a new one ^^ again....

I know your pain, i had a dream last night where i discovered a horrible scratch through the paint of my m14x, more like a bruise because it wasn't a thin scratch. So i started chanting to myself. This is a dream, this is a dream, this is a dream... and sure enough i woke up and was so relieved.

I kinda understand the feeling, but not really. Hopefully you can just squeeze something out of dell. Or get a replacement bezel.
