I would like to check operating temps on my laptop but don't know what programs to use. Is there something in Windows or should i download a third party program?

You can begin with HWMonitor, with it you can check temps for CPU, GPU, HDD, etc.

You can download it from here.

Thanks! I downloaded HWMonitor. I'm happy with my temps. 75C max CPU and 58C max GPU while playing Skyrim. I use a cooling mat.
