I have an alienware m14x system purchased 14 days ago, and there have been some weird problems with it, for e.g. sometimes at boot it says bios not recognized and sometimes rather for most of the times it works fine....I contacted dell regarding the issue and they are ready for a system exchange.. my concern is does dell check the customer's system after it reaches the factory and then issue a new system or they just send a new/refurb. system to the customer....coz its a maybe that the error might not pop up in front of dell. i really don't know what to do... and also at the same time I do not want to get branded as a fraud cust. with dell

Dont be afraid. When they exchange your system it means you get a new offer from Dell which you have to accept first or discuss the config and get again a new offer. After finally sending it back to Dell and accepting the offer you will get a brand new system in 2-3 weeks.

After 1 or 2 weeks your new system arrived you have to call Dell to pickup your old system which will be send to a Dell storehouse. At this point no one but Dell workers know what will happen to your replaced system.

But by accepting the exchange Dell confirmed that the system is broken and needs to be replaced. So no worrys for you there.

I had to call dell to return my m14x within 2 days of receiving it, bad motherboard (had to do with RTC accuracy.) Well I called them and they are sending me a new m14x with the same configuration as the one i purchased. They are sending me the new one first and I have to accept it and make sure everything is good then I send the faulty m14x back.

I should recieve my new m14x today, just waiting for fedex to arrive. also push for NBD delivery.

Lolz....stop worrying about dell labeling you a fraud. I have been in talks with senior support representatives. Finally after like 8 months of having my replacement m18x am I sending back the old faulty laptop. No one has called me or tried to label me fraud. The only problem is you will not have warranty on the new system till they receive the old system and update the service tag. Now that I need support on my new m18x the senior rep is like...hmmmm what about that old broken laptop...lolz. So i am sending it back like 8-9 months later and dell has no issues with it.
