so my laptop crashed a while back and i was forced to re install windows, well ever since then whenever i boot into windows or wake up from hibernate, it first starts at a black screen saying non system disc please press any key to continue, now at the time i had the driver disc in the drive so i thought that was the issue but i removed the CD and it still continues to happen, after i press a key it skips it and goes straight to windows but i want to know whats causing it, any ideas?

I would try to select HD boot in Bios. Or re-select lol

Check the Bios and play around with the boot settings I say - seems like it is trying to access something before the HDD

see thats what i fgured and i reselected the HDD in the bios but it still did it, could it be attempting to boot from the recovery partition first?

Quite possibly actually - I've never had that problem because I added my own SSD so there is no recovery partition on mine.

That said, I find the recovery partion a bit of a waste of space and usually get rid of it when I first get a pre built laptop. I know this sounds like quite a bit of work but maybe do clean install again and this time wipe the recovery partition (if you don't need it of course).

well the thing already crashed on me once and the recovery partition was no use to me at all, couldn't access it, i might delete it and see what happens

What is connected to your laptop? Esp. USB sticks and external HDD do this bootup message thing on my system. After disconnecting laptop boots from SSD.

The recovery partition should not cause those issues. Have you tried loading optimal defaults in bios to see if that clears it up. Or even reflash the bios to see if that helps.
