Would it be possible to recreate Stealth mode on the m14x like the m17x? If not by a user, could it be possible by maybe a bios update and software from Dell? I think it'd be really interesting to see how much better battery life we would get.

    just a suggestion.

in the Alien FX editor you can customize power plans and set "Power Saver" to have everything use the littlest amount of power possible. Even limit how much CPU usage u want to be used and actually have the dedicated graphics at the lowest setting possible while just taking advantage of the integrated graphics.

on "Balance" plan with about 95% battery life I get about 5 hours...

    - Brightness 1 notch above lowest
    - Keyboard lighting off
    - External wireless mouse
    - Wifi on (regular web browing)

Titan, how big of a difference does a wired mouse make in power consumption (out of curiosity)? 5hrs+ is looking good nonetheless :)

The M11XR3 has almost 8hrs under the same conditions I was reading in a review if anyone is interested in comparing both new units.

yea the m11x r3 gets a good amount of battery life but it used an ULV processor and a weaker video card. (i'm not bashing it lol)

as for how much of a difference a wired mouse would make... probablt very minimal. maybe 3-5 % difference i'm assuming. A wireless mouse has its own batteries to power it.
