It doesn't happen every time I am using my system but sometimes and it is really annoying, anyone have a fix?
I have to restart to get sound back.

I had this issue while using skype. Others here with the problem have stated it happened while playing games like SC2. I reinstalled my soundcard drivers through the device manager and haven't had the problem since.

Try updating the BIOS to the latest version. If that does not work send me a PM because it may require a replacement.

I have had similar funky sound issues but they are almost always resolved by a restart like you said. To be honest I'd rather just deal with the occasional reboot than the inconvenience of having to send it in for service.
