    Hey there everyone,

Im not much of a tech guru however I just wanted to share with all of you a product that might be helpful.

My story was that basically I have a nice surround sound setup in my room, and thought it would be a good idea to connect my M14x to the surround system for gaming or watching movies. I do know that the M14x has ports to connect to 5.1, however my case was that I wanted to have a direct SPDIF connection from laptop to the surround system in order to take full advantage of supported modes such as DTS.

The Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 Pro has done for me wonders. All you need to do is just install drivers from CD, plug in the external device through USB, and hook up the device to your system. Its a small device and can be easily concealed or stored in your case.

As far as performance, I have experienced 0 lag in gaming and the card supports DTS output when available :)

Thats about it, like I said not much of a tech guru but just wanted to let you guys know that it works perfect! Just make sure that you get the PRO version as it supports Dolby Digital Live which basically encodes 5.1 for gaming ;)

Soundblaster makes multiple products. They one that FadhelAM is referring to is an external soundcard that offers a fiber optic output for digital audio transmission.

The soundblaster product you are referring to is indeed a software enhancement and is not the same as the one mentioned above.
