Hello all, been lurking for a week or so.
I ordered my M14x 5/26/11. I got all basic specs with the 16x9 screen.
(Now I'm wishing I'd ordered wifi and bluetooth upgrade.. but I'll install that myself if I end up needing it)

Being a student myself (college), when I saw the free xbox for students deal I was very excited, but disappointed to only see premade systems. I called up dell, had them pull up my "saved cart" and they confirmed I could get the free xbox with my custom order. WOOHOO!
I ordered my M14x right then and there. My Xbox came up as a separate order and it got here last night 6/1/11. Its a standard looking 4gb slim 360, and seems to be just like you bought it in the store! (You could... most likely get store credit from somewhere like walmart..... But I'm keeping mine, as my old 360 is a loud half dead mess of a system)

I've been hitting refresh like a madman on my order status page... my EDD was 6/13/11 since the moment I ordered. However, I just checked my status again.... and... Its shipped! and I'm getting it Friday!!! Super excited!

How come everybody who orders after me or on the same day as me, have their m14x already shipped. Not that I don't want the best for you guys, I'm just jealous. I ordered mine on 5/25 and estimated delivery date is 6/8. I hope mine will be here on time.

    Congrats on the Xbox deal.

But if he already has an Xbox, he can swap hard drives.

If you got all of the basics (i'm assuming you didn't upgrade anything but the screen), you could have just gotten a pre-made system with the xbox which would have come w/ the 900p screen, bluetooth, and the 1 yr accidental warranty plan..plus 6gb of RAM.

I didn't want to pay for the extra ram and such. Also I believe the premade config was 1399$, I don't remember for sure. Plus you can't do any personalizing on a premade system.

I will be upgrading the ram and harddrive for sure, but I doubt i'll care to upgrade wifi/bluetooth.

4gb still pwns the 20gb IMO. Built in wifi, hdmi port, digital audio out, plus it's black haha, and the HDD is super easy to swap out. I had a WD blue sitting around and luckily for me that one works perfect in the xboxes, flashed it and just stuck it in the hole (lol) and now I have a 250gb xbox slim. $200 isn't nothing also.

and yes the old xbox hdd are swappable. You just have to remove it from that ugly housing and underneath it all is a 2.5" drive. into the slim it's plug n play.

-grats OP cool you got an xbox without the prebuilt systems. That's really good to hear actually..
