So I'm next to receive my AW 14, but I have some questions... I already search in the forum, and in google but really the answers I get are not of my entire satisfaction.

I order the 750 GB HDD + 64 mSata SSD cache configuration, I have read a lot of articles about this combination and how it works, with intel RST you need to enable the SSD as the cache disk.. so far its all ok and I understand how it works, but also I found that you can install the O.S in the SSD disk (I know too that I dont get the full speed of a normal SSD, but right now I dont have plans to buy a normal SSD disk) the HDD of 750 GB will just be for storage... but I search and dont find a simple question with this:

Wich option will be the best??, leave the SSD as the boot disk with the S.O installed in it, or use it as its original designed... as a cache disk, actually I never had an SSD before, so in fact I dont have a idea what will be better, in my noob opinion maybe will be better to install there the OS but to be honest 64 GB its too small after install some programs and games (some games will need to be in the HDD because are too large, like borderlands 2 + DLC's its about 18 GB... if im not wrong.. or the adobe master suite... 10 GB...)

So whats your opinion about this?

Oh and about the soft touch.. i owned an AW M14xR1 but sinve the first month I bought a skin protector (yes I know are horrible... but the true its that I preffer dont have to worry about the wear of the soft touch texture) in your experience how many time pass to the soft touch texture starts to wear??

    Thanks :D

SSD as bootdisk and HDD for storage only.

If I use the SSD (a 128Gb one) for Windows boot, can I still install games/software on it?

Yup, you can put anything you want on it but it's better to keep it clean for faster boot.

Thanks pal. I am about to buy a 256Gb Samsung 840 Sata 3 SSD (or should I go for a 64Gb instead only for installing Windows?). My R2 came with Windows 7 Installation disc but I upgraded to Windows 8 downloading it directly from Microsoft Site, How can I install Windows 8 in my case? Or should I install windows 7 and then download again Windows 8?

If it's a Win8 ISO you can burn it and install it directly, if it is the upgrade you will need to install Win7 1st and then upgrade to 8. I would get the 256GB SSD to avoid having to install anything on the HDD and use the HDD only for storage.
