    Hey all

I am (still) considering buying an m14x and want some details on the soft touch finish. What exactly is this finish? I have heard it is something like a rubberized coating? How easy is it to keep maintained, I had an Aurora 9700 from alienware with the rubberized "alien head" design and it picked up dust like nobody's business :/

Also, can anyone (truthfully) sing this laptop's praises and convince me to take the plunge (only if you really are completely happy with it though!)

it picks up oil, but no dust.

Actually, I take that back. It seems like the newer rubber finishes do not pick oil as easily :D

It has the exact same feel as the rubberized coating on some Blackberry phones such as the Bold 9700/9780. It feels more plastic than rubber, like 30% rubber 70% plastic.

I feel that the m14x offers a good balance of performance and battery life. The gt555m is probably the fastest card that manufacturers across the board has enabled optimus (hardwiring-wise) to be compatible with.

The issues bugging owners now are mainly on gaming on battery and fan noise, and you can find out more about both issues in this forum.

Its hard material, but has a soft touch feel to it.

Seems to show some oils, but a wipe with a cloth and any marks disappear.

Hard to describe it - its a rigid hard surface, but like they took the plastic and then used a very very very fine grit paper to sand it slightly so that it doesn't have a shine to it but has a nicer smooth feel.

Its great - i'd even go as far to say that it is a nicer feel than the macbook pro surface (which is the brushed aluminum).
