Skyrim recommended requirements are as folllows:
Win XP/7, quad-core Intel/AMD CPU,
4GB RAM, 6GB HD
, DX compat snd card,
DX9 vid card w/ 1 GB. GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
Obviously most specs should be matched or bettered by the majority of m14 x users, but i could not find a direct comparison for the GTX 260 vs the GT555m.
Interested to know what settings people think the GT555m will work on.
Pretty much only got a new laptop just to play skyrim so medium would be the minimum i would expect.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

It seems very comparable to the 260M; shows here that it is just barely under:
Comparison of Laptop Graphics Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Game should run fine on medium-high settings at 900p -
Therefore... since my M14x @720p plays BF3 with EVERYTHING at max settings and averages 30 fps, I'd say skyrim won't be a problem (except motion blur is off.. I don't like motion blur).
i5 2410m 2.3ghz, 2.9ghz TB (Max temp=80c)
555m 1.5gb @770/1540/1080 (Max temp=68c)
8gb 1333 ram
250gb wd blk 7200rpm
HD WLED (720p) -
But take note.. You can't compare the 260m to the 260gtx. Our 555m's are about the same as a 260m. NOT a 260gtx. 260gtx is way more powerful.

Skyrim looks soo much better (graphically) than Oblivion or FO3, but theyre still not amazing. (I am not at ALL trying to bash Bethesda, ES is litterally my FAVORITE line of games and already pre ordered skyrim a while ago) But their games were never focused on graphics. Itll run good on the xbox, and therefor shouldnt be too hard to handle on a quad core 1.5gb (vram) gaming machine. For example, the typical xbox game looks like Gears of War or Mass Effect. Skyrim is a bit under those, but those games run flawlessly on the PC. Only with graphic mods should you maybe worry

Everything is recommending quad core now. I think optimization will be a big thing. Somethings giving me a bad feeling its gonna be like FO:NV when it comes out (hopefully to be patched later). The devs keep talking about how they worked hard to make this run good and do new things with consoles... That should scare the PC community imo

god our graphics card is horrid haha

So basically, can we only run it on low-medium settings?
-
766P- All medium with ultra textures and everything else diasbled 45-65 fps.
766p- All high with hbao on and AF 16X. (HBAO makes this game look awesome) 35-45 fps
900p- All medium with ultra textures and everything else disabled 35-50 fps
900p- All ultra and everything on 25-40 fps.
too lazy and cant remember all the other things ive tried.
right now im playing on 766p at High textures and medium everything else. with hbao, 16x AF at 35-55 fps
btw im clocked at 770/1540? or something like that -
The i7 is a quad core. (with 8 threads)
If you actually compare fps, you shouldn't get more than a couple fps out of an i7, if any. This is due to the fact that the limiting factor in the M14x is the gpu, not the cpu.
Also, the i5 is MUCH cooler than the i7. My i5 2410m max temp=80c. That's with my 555m 1.5gb @770/1540/1080 max temp=68c.
The M14x isn't made to wreak havoc. It was made for portable gaming. If I was buying something with a 460m or higher, then I'd grab an i7. And only if it had better cooling than the M14x.
Technically BF3 with everything turned up ranges between mainly 32-43 with some 30 dips for me. And my b... It's at 1366x768 not 720p -

no yeah i accidently posted this in the wrong thread i have not played skrim yet

I really do not think Alienware should be building laptops that cannot run Skyrim at AT LEAST medium-high settings if they are advertising their products as "gaming laptops"

Wheres all this medium low coming from? The m14x should be fine on max, even if AA is off. Skyrim shouldnt be very demanding
-
i would say hihj settings. no aa. there engine isnt really demanding

I'll be posting a youtube video of it on my channel when it comes out if anyone wants to see before buying it. I'll post a link back up later on for the vid.

I will too, in 13 days

Yeah, in all honesty, Skyrim's graphics look great, but nothing mind-blowing. I am purchasing the 360 version first and might eventually get the PC version so I can use it for mods.
13 more days!!!!!!! -
I already pre ordered on Steam a while ago, but wanna get it for 360 just for that cool map and statue..
Im wondering if the 3GB upgrade will show again in Skyrim, as the view distance is supposedly pretty big in the game
Skyrim specs out,how will it run?
