i say wait till you use the onboard wifi extensively then make the decision yourself
-
but can you upgrade wifi by yourself?
-
Yes, I believe you can. Though I'm not sure.
-
yes you can its underneath the battery, its like upgrading ram. not hard at all.
-
i upgraded to the 6205 didnt get my m14x yet but idk i like stronger wifi and for 25$ doesnt seem like much.
-
i hope i can find a a/b/g/n 3x3 card for laptops
is it rare to find?
what wifi card type the 14x have? -
you can select the wifi card while ordering. the "default" ist the Intel WiFi Link 1000BGN connected with 2 Antennas. So upgrading to Mimo wont make that much sense. if you want that, chose mimo while ordering.

Have any of you really had any problems with the wfi? Like, when at school maybe?
-
The spec sheets show that the upgraded wifi card has up to double signal strength/range and may increase download/upload speeds.
I think it's a wise choice, especially if you're on campus, considering my campus gives me 1/5 signal bars in some areas (and 0/5 on some of the lower level areas). -
Oh alright thanks man!
-
YES! i has the intel 1000, and it sucked! perhaps it was just mine but i called dell and they sent me a 6205 and i must say the added 5ghz range is awesome (your router must support this btw) and its 100x better then the 1000 IMO
-
so the 14x can't have 3x3?
Should I upgrade wifi?
