Saw a similar thread, but for a R1 version.... Was wondering if I should upgrade or not. Sounds like the R1 A05 allowed for SATA 3.... I'm using a SSD in my R2, but not sure if upgrading the BIOS would be good or not. I've kind of been holding off waiting (hoping) for a throttle fix before I did it.

    Any thoughts?

That's what i did last week in prep for BF4 Beta. I had A03 (unlocked) and went to A13 (Dell Standard). I still use Nvidia Inspector set to run in P:5 mode to adjust clock speeds and hwinfo for fan control. No issues so far.

    Good luck!

Did you see any improvements with the upgrade?

Also, I've just started reading about the P:5 and Nvidia Inspector.... That doesn't require the BIOS to be unlocked, correct? Got any links you could share to some setup info on it?

    Thanks in advance.

I have an Alienware m14x R2 on A11 (Unlocked) with no issues. As far as I remember versions A01-A04 are traditional BIOS and higher revisions are uEFI. Because of this you might need to tweak the startup options after you flash the BIOS.

If there is nothing wrong with the PC now it's better to leave the BIOS as it is, they are usually released to fix a certain behavior.
