I put the 500gb Hard Drive in the optical drive caddy. I installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology and it lists the 500gb under "Storage System View" but it's not showing under "Hard Disk Drives" in Computer. Anyone know how to fix this?

either the hard drive is kaput, or you haven't put a jumper on the drive to make it run in SATA 1 mode, mine would not show up in windows \ bios and if it did it would drop off the face of the earth a second later, that is, until i jumpered it.

might also want to try this:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disc Management.

see if the HDD is a simple volume in there. if not you might need to format it and set it up as a simple volume.

The optical drive is limited to SATA 1 so the suggestion above is pretty accurate, you may be missing that. Also it might need to be formatted as some guy says.
