I have a brand new M14. Graphics card is Intel(R ) HD Graphics Family and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M. My CPU is an Intel i5, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, When I try to switch Second Life to run on the 555M, it will not do so. I get an abysmal 1.5FPS unless I switch the Second Life graphics to their lowest settings. Then I get a barely playable 6.5pfs. I have updated the drivers with the latest on Dell.com. I have used to Nvidia control panel to run the program with the High Performance Nvidia GPU, and I have tried the right click "run with graphics processor". Nothing seems to work. I can get any other program to run on the Nvidia GPU, but not Second Life. No matter what I have tried, I get no GPU activity shown.

    Help, please

Having tested it with most of the first and third party browsers I can say this. I am running the latest nVidia driver with the hacked INI and have not had any issues. I am running it with all the advanced physics and depth of field effects and get at least 30fps or higher. (I have the i7 base model they were selling a few months back). What browser are you using and such? All browsers short of Kirstens auto detect all cores and the nVidia card.

Imprudence works well on mine. I use it for OpenSim but it can connect to SL

SL doesn't pick up the 555m card on any viewer - tried and white listed them all.
Pain in the because I NEED to run it - I work for a company who use SL as a platform and I need to get online. I can only work from my desktop, I bought this laptop so that I could work from anywhere :(

Haha! Me too! I work for the University of Illinois at Chicago doing public health research on there! Kind of cool to meet someone else like that here :p

Anyways, what drivers are you running?

Ah cool :) I build for language lab, and run a couple of stores.

I'm on the default drivers, haven't updated them. Didn't feel I needed to because everything else runs beautifully. It's just SL. :(

    *EDIT*
okay I just updated the nvidia drivers with the moded inf - viewer 2.0 picks up the card now, but not pheonix / firestorm. This is an improvement but I hate viewer 2.0 haha

Try updating them, could be a support issue.

Hi there.. I have a Nvidia 555m card as well, and found I could not run SL very well. I researched the problem on the Nvidia site and they sent this driver. It worked like a charm for me. After you install the driver go into your Nvidia and set it as default. To be doubly sure youre running SL on it.. when you open your viewer right click on the shortcut and choose the nvidia graphics card there as well. Hope it helps!

Not compatible without a moded .inf file, did you use one?
