I´ve got a m14x r1 with bios a08 and i recently replaced the crappy standard harddrive to a ocz vortex 3. Everything works completely fine (even though its on the sata2 restricted thingie), but if i just close the lid and put the computer to sleep (not turning off) the computer goes to sata3 mode and intel rapid storage software tells me im on sata 3, 6gb. I even get proper sata 6gb speeds on tests. My only issue is that the system turns unstable during 6gb speeds and crashes after a little while

What should i do? dell support are total scumbags and just tell me they wont help me until i put back the original hdd.

btw, i got 3gb gt555, had issues when i downgraded bios.

Maybe if (???) you want to try uninstalling Intel RST from device manager and then restart and let Windows 7 install default MSAHCI. This MIGHT help with the cool bug lol, and if not, it is fully reversible.

is it even worth trying? considering i got bios A08, didnt Dell block out sata3 modes in this bios? and if they did why would removing RST work when the issue is the bios?
