So I've had problems running battlefield 3 with my m14x, all other games now work fine it's just bf3 that I have issues with where it's pretty much unplayable and since I bought it a little over 2 months ago they won't exchange it for the r2 which is fine. So since I'm sticking with this one I was thinking about replacing the ram with 8gb and replacing the hdd with an ssd. My questions are, am I still covered by the warranty with Alienware if I do this, and is the laptop noticeably lighter without the hdd? I could remove my optical drive, but I have a desktop so there's no real need for me to keep the hdd for data and such. Plus it would be nice to lighten up my laptop even just a little bit.
