I don't i've been somewhat flooding my issues with m14x on several threads and I apologize.

My question is should I ordered another one.

Because my m14x is not 21 days old I cannot receive an out-right exchange.

So I must ship it to them immediately to receive my money back and then re-order another one (maybe)

How many of you have had issues with it in the first year? First month? Is it reliable enough that I should order another one? Worth it?

Maybe you can use that refund to get a better alienware, like the m17x or something. The only thing I can see that is going to be an issue is the battery in the near future. Probably after a year, the high heat and energy use would kill that battery, or at least lower its charging power significantly.

I was planning on doing so, but I'm very skeptical about dell/AW products, I honestly never want to deal with their tech reps, return, support, customer service departments again.

In the PC Magazine Reader's Choice Awards of 2011, Alienware had the highest rate of laptops needing repairs of any brand surveyed (including HP, MSI, and Acer). However, Alienware was also tied with Samsung for highest owner satisfaction among PC laptops.

Readers' Choice Awards 2011: Desktops and Laptops - Laptops | PCMag.com

Is it the most reliable option out there? Definitely not. Is it nevertheless a good machine? Yes.

I'm had zero issues with my M14X (knock on wood). I suggest you give it a second chance...

Well its your call, personally, I like my alienware m14x and it's a great gaming laptop, but if i can do it over again, I'd probably get a laptop with a gtx card in it, since I don't take my m14x out of the house as much as I thought I would, the extra weight wouldn't have mattered. But yeah, dell/alienware support is trash, I would never let a tech touch my m14x, I'd rather do it myself with a tech's guidance :) Heard a lot of dell tech horror stories just with the m14x.

    Thanks all.

I decided never to go back with Dell. I have no doubt in mind the m14x is and can be a great. But I couldn't deal with them in any aspect anymore.

I'm actually surprised that I wasn't offered a discount on my replacement purchase or anything of the sort, hell even a letter would do. Nope.

If any of you want to hear the full story for what happened, please feel free to PM me i'll be glad to share, it isn't appropriate to do so here.

Again thank you all for your input. I am jealous of your m14x especially if they work.

    Dell? Hell.... no!

Well, look like you're the unlucky one, I have only 2 problem with the laptop so far, and 1 of them can be consider quite serious to me, first is: the speaker got blown after messing around with the SoundBlaster software which I think the fault is mine, while the second is the HDD failure after 1 month of continuously using it.

And there're also some minor issue but this is mostly common, most people got this as well which is the Heat issues - High Temp CPU, between 90C ~ 100C.

Overall the laptop is the best so far in term of performance. It is up to you, for me I'd give a second chance. But before you send it back, if possible try to haggle Dell to give you discount or thing like that, for the reason of the replacement, tell them that you're very unhappy. Then if you lucky you might got the discount.

Ive had no problems and I actually thank you for more blaming it on Dell than the m14x itsself lol. If a person is a bad person because their mother raised them wrong, do you blame the person or the mother? Kind of the same aspect lol. Itll be hard finding a replacement for the m14x, as no other laptops come close to its unique niche. I think theres a 15.6 sager out there than can get GTX class cards, but battery life is only 3 hours or so. Still, theres almost always an alternative!

I would never blame it on the product itself, unless it was CLEARLY a design flaw and even then i'd point towards the manufacturer.

Bare in mind, its Dell's customer service that drove me mad. I know products can be faulty, especially laptops, its not an exact perfect science yet, things happen, it's their customer service.... if you have to call Dell... might as well stab yourself a couple hundred times and you'd get the same feeling. I am so scared of ordering from them for fear i'd have to call them for ANYTHING.

Eh, Im used to my computer being from companies in South Korea and Taiwan and stuff, where warranty is non-existent really. I think being able to have a tech come to your house to diagnose the problem is like comparing a station wagon to a Lamborghini in terms of what Im used to LOL. You worry about having to put up with them, but Im just glad I dont have to worry about the company going under in less than a year after getting the computer lol.

Used mine everyday for around 3 months now for work / games. Cpu temp can get quite high specially if your room has a high ambient temp.

But in general not had any faults besides 2 dead pixels which I can live with.

Compared with my Macbook pro, the Macbook is more solid and even more stable but that is not to say the m14x is not safe to work on. Just dont think visual studio will run on Osx :p
