The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    First, sorry if this has been mentioned before:

    I emailed HIDEvolution re them removing the custom Blu-ray reader/writer option from the M14x, and Ted said: " because we found that the M14x uses a 9.5mm slotload drive (as opposed to 12.7mm as normally found on most laptops). A slotload Bluray drive in 9.5mm form factor does not exist at this time, so we have taken it off as an option on our site."

    Perhaps this is why Dell does not offer Blu-ray in the M14x?
