There are quite a few m14x's on Dell Outlet and there is also an available 15% off coupon.
I can pick up these specs:
    - i7 2630
    - 500gb hdd
    - GT555M 1.5
    - 14" (1600x900)
    - Crappy Intel 1000 a/b/g card, can't find any with the Killer ver.
    - Bluetooth

After tax and shipping I'm at
$1,113.86 - roughly a $200 savings over a new w/ stock settings, just added the i7, better screen and better network card.
    Pros? Cons?
Anyone else pick up a refurb of this model?

[EDIT] -- may just go for the 4gb model to save an extra few bucks. An extra $20 for the 2720, 6gb of RAM and bluetooth? Meh, maybe not.

I've ordered probably 10 dell laptops from the outlet over the last few years from Inspirons to Alienwares for my business. I've found them all to be as good as new except one m11x I ordered came with a broken hinge already, but that was the only thing.

As for the Wifi card, you can buy a new one and install it in about 5 minutes. I think my 6205 was $17.

    Go here:
    Dell Factory Outlet

Select the box that says m14x, you will see the selection areas on the left.

Just received my m14x from the Outlet store. I must say it is perfect in every way. ;) No marks on the case, screen is flawless with no dead pixels. Running really great will do some stress tests on the CPU and GPU. With the configure I got the little extras I saved about 300.00 or so I am very pleased with it. Much nicer than the m11x was, bigger screen and the sound wow no more straining to hear it. lol. Very loud and clear, music plays nice.

So basically, no issues thus far (with the limited responses) that haven't gotten resolved.
That price seem like a good deal?

refurbs are sometimes a better buy than an equivalent new machine. With the refurbs, they have to make sure they work before putting them out there, and work properly, not just the "it turns on, send it off" that is probably the regular QC.

I bought a refurbished laptop from Dell in 2005. Saved a ton on it, compared to when they were selling those Inspirons new. It said it had a "scratch on the front handle", but I was unable to even notice it. Anyway, it is still working just fine after all these years.

Just one anecdotal experience. But I certainly won't hesitate to buy another one.
