I just got my Alienware 14 today and was going to put 2 Kingston 240GB Sata 3 drives in raid 0 in today. I open up the computer and see a space for 1 hard drive. I literally take the thing apart and find no place for a 2nd hard drive? Am I missing something here?

Nope. You're not missing anything. It has always only had a single 7mm bay.

The RAID configurations you would see for the AW 14 would be:

    1. mSATA + 7mm
    2. 7mm + ODD
    3. mSATA + 7mm + ODD

So can I install these 2 SSD's in Raid 0 over Sata 3 and if so how would you recommend I do it?

Only if you remove the optical drive and put one in there. You need to buy an "mSATA" SSD to RAID with a regular 7mm 2.5" SSD.

Got it. Appreciate the help so I can use a
Kingston sms200S3 in conjunction with a normal 2.5 SSD Kingston. Will I need to get a caddy for the msata drive in place of the DVD drive or any additional connectors?

You'll need a caddy if you plan to remove the ODD. The mSATA and 7mm 2.5" SSD should be plug n' play.

I wan to make sure I do this right can you point me in the right direction as to which caddy to purchase. I am assuming i put the msata drive into the optical caddy and the 2.5 ssd just goes into the normal hard drive slot.

I can still Raid 0 over different form factors right?

Also to confirm the mSata will retain the Sata 3 so my raid will still be Sata 3 yes 6.0GB/s

Call AW they will send you the official AW HD caddy, cables and screws to replace the optical drive. If you have trouble let us know I have all the part numbers from dell and can get them tonight when I get home.

Since RAID-0 performance gains will be minimal, why bother? Are you just using it as a way to create a large logical disk?
