I recently had my mSATA drive fail and am now looking at setting up RAID with a regular 1 TB hard drive, 120 GB mSATA SSD and the WD Black 2 1 TB + 120 GB SSD Hybrid drive.

I would like to RAID 1 the mSATA and 120 GB SSD from the hybrid. I'd also like to RAID 1 the regular 1 TB hard drive and the 1 TB portion of the WD Black 2.

From what I have read you are supposed to use identical drives in RAID arrays but isn't it possible without. Is my desired setup completely impossible?

In order for the RAID 1 to be successful, you need to have both drives being the same size and same model. Otherwise you might run into some integrity issues, depending on the brand.
Personally, I don't recommend the mixture of the mSATA and the Hybrid SSD.
