Hi everyone, I just got my MSDN copy of Windows 8 Pro today and thought I'd let everyone know the current driver situation.
    I installed from a DVD I burned to a mSATA/SATAIII RAID0 array on a Corsair Force GT 120 and a Mushkin Atlas 120.
all of the alienware software installs, but stops responding when I try to run them. OSD works. I can change alienfx setting from right clicking the system tray icon.
the intel graphics installer wont install. chipset and RST install but progam crashes if I attempt to run it. Nvidia grahics install, but after a reboot I got a black screen with the blacklight an mouse cursor going in and out and the new device beep every few seconds like its trying to load a driver.
I have a Killer 1202 and the dell driver is a no go, but I got one from the manufacturer page and its for windows 7 but seems to work fully.
I did get in after hitting the power button and then hitting it again to get out of sleep which gave me a working desktop. again, I could right click to get to the NVidia menu, but if I try to load the nvida GUI it did the windows 8 equivalent of a BSOD.
Sound installs and works but opening menu causes crash. probably would have been better to not install it and leave what windows had, but I was more just testing what worked for now.
Im gonna mess with it a little more tonight before I throw 7 back on. looks like im gonna have to install it as a VM for now until dell releases some drivers for 8.
If anyone else has had a chance to give a release version of windows 8 a try and got any further any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Whelp. I was considering going for the Win8 Pro upgrade promotion (because I only have 7 Premium and not Pro), but I best hold it off then, but there is still a couple of months before the commercial consumer release of Win 8, so hopefully drivers will be mature by then.

    I am running an r2 with Win8Pro.

Downloaded the Win8 Intel display driver from Intel® Support (this fixed the hanging in youtube flash with the WDDM1.2 driver)
Downloaded the nVidia display beta 304.79

All other drivers have been detected by the setup except:

    ACPI\SMO8810 - ST MicroElectronics 3-axis accelerometer
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A - Intel Management Interface Driver (downloadable from Intel)
ACPI\CPL0002 - Alienware OSD driver (I believe the Windows 7 driver works)

Downloaded the latest Command Centre from dell website and that works fine also

Thanks Dan, I just didn't have the time to play around with drivers as I needed a functional machine for work today. I sincerely appreciate your help. were you able to tell if graphics switching is working? I might have to give it another go tonight! thanks!

I think the switching is working. using the task bar icon running desktop apps it shows no active processes on the NVidia GPU, when I open the NVidia control panel to the preview it updated to 1 process using the GPU.

Also the hanging I had in youtube was something to do with the Windows WDDM driver, which I subsequently replaced.

IIRC you have to install the intel driver first, then the NVidia.
