    Hi all,

I switched on my laptop this morning and noticed that neither the touchpad nor the keyboard is working. I've had the laptop for about a month now and it has been working fine the whole time, until today.

Any ideas what might be causing them to not work? I have tried reinstalling drivers for the touch pad (which wouldn't explain why the keyboard doesn't work) but to no avail.

This machine is brand new but since I got it as a replacement to an R1 version (and after a long hassle with tech support), they sent me this one so I don't have warranty on it.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: Not sure if this helps, but only the escape button works (and this is outside of windows, when using the boot screen)

EDIT2: FIXED - I took the RAM in and out, unplugged the keybaord and various other connections, took the battery out, then plugged everything back in and it works fine now! Strange..! But happy ending :D

Can you connect another keyboard and test?
Once you get in to windows, if you disconnect everything(peripherals), can you move the mouse using the touchpad?
Do you get lights on the keyboard?
Sorry for the questions, thank you

    Frank,

Not a problem. I am using an external keyboard and mouse just fine at the moment. I tried unplugging everything when I got into Windows and still nothing. All the lights are working fine .

    Would reinstalling Windows fix it?

Don't go so far yet, can you try to get in to Safe Mode?

I have been into safe mode, both of them still do not work.

Small update: I restarted the computer and the keyboard worked for about 3 seconds when I got to the desktop, then stopped working. THe touch pad never started working

So pretty much everything works outside windows(can't test the touchpad but it should). You can try a W7 re-installation, but I'll still give this post a little more time; just to check if anyone else knows about something we are missing.
