I recently got my M14x and I have a few questions. There pretty simple but I have no idea what the answer is. Hope you guys can help.

1] How do i turn off the bluetooth? On my asus, when I right click the icon there was an option that says turn off adapter, I don't see that option here

2] I want to upgrade my ram to 8GB, is this one good purchase and has anyone tried it out.

3] On my previous asus, I can easily scroll pages by using right edge of the trackpad. When I try this on the alienware, I doesn't scroll. Is there any way I can set it so I can use a small part of the trackpad for scrolling up and down pages?

Sorry if the questions are too simplistic but this is my first alienware.

To turn off BT just go to the FN setting 1 OR 2 a menu will pop out and you can uncheck it

Thanks for that. It was F3. I thought it turned on/off wireless. Didn't know it had more options.

I haven't received my m14x yet but from experience with m17x

1] depending on your driver, I used to be able to turn it off from tray icon. If not, right click "computer" then "manage" the right click your bluetooth adapter and disable it

2] not sure I never change ram for laptop, never needed more than 4gb

3] Hmm... that's true my old asus did that too, I'm just guessing here but maybe you can enable multi-touch and use two fingers to scroll?

No question is a dumb question :) unless it's already been discussed to death

Try tweaking around the settings in the alientouch software in the alien command center for scrolling.

8 gig of ram is good if you like to multitask, i keep a whole bunch of windows and crap open so thats why i got 8 gig of ram. for the mouse scrolling i think you have to enable it. ill post back later once i get off work.

For scrolling follow these steps. Alienware disables this out of the box.

    Control panels
    Mouse Properties
    Device Setting
    Click Settings
From there you can open up the scrolling option and modify it as you please

Yeh. I multitask a lot so I need the 8GB. It wasn't worth upgrading for the price alienware has.

Thanks. I'll try it out when I get home.

I configured the scrolling and now I noticed a big problem. The internet keeps disconnecting and re-connecting. I don't see any signs of my router being turned off. I was downloading and noticed this. It keeps doing it over minute or so.

I think it's because of my crappy internet. I usually get 208Kbps stable on my old Toshiba but now It sometimes jumps to 280kbps on the alienware so I think that might be the problem why it keeps getting disconnecting. Is there any way to limit the speed on the wireless card or something when i'm using it at home?

Also, thanks a lot for your replies everyone. I really appreciate it. All that needs to be anwswered is the question about the ram and this new problem I found with the internet and i'll be a happy owner of a M14x.
