    Hi my friends,

I'm pretty new to the forum so I'm not sure how to approach asking this question. Basically I'm a bit lazy in ordering Alienware 14 from Dell website because it probably will take a lot of time in reviewing the order and build and etc...so I looked to this place on ebay and found a company that sell as well as customize Alienware 14 for you, here is the link:
Alienware 14 Haswell Gaming Laptop Notebook NVIDIA 765M Full HD 1920 x 1080 | eBay

My question is: How reliable is it buying Alienware 14 this way? I asked the company through email and they said this is the base model and it is brand new sealed from Dell, and if I like to customize it, they can do it at their company and ship it to me. Of course I don't plan on customize anything because this base model (in the link I post above) has everything I need and of course It is base model so as they said, it is sealed and manufactured by Dell. I also check their name on google and found that a lot of people had good experience working with them.

So how is your thought on this? Buying it from them or from Dell. As I know, this company is kindda similar to others on the internet like Hidevolution etc...

    Thanks for reading my post

It doesn't make much sense for you to go through someone on eBay as opposed to directly through Alienware. They are both offering the same system for the same price, but with Alienware you may be able to get additional discounts and gift cards.

    Thank you for your respond,

My main reason for considering buying through ebay is because the time between payment to when I receive the system is very short (5 days) instead of 2,3 weeks like Dell. Also, I don't really know how to get discount either.

And you know, this is off topic but as far as I know, the new Alienware 14 runs fairly hot. I don't care much about the throttling because I don't run things on super high setting and I don't want the temperature exceed the limit either (that would hurt the system right?)

Do you guys things it is worth it to purchase the Alienware 14 if one of my top priority is cool and long life time. If it run hot, I'm sure the system can't last longer than 2 years

As for the heat, not many people have first hand knowledge of how temps are on average. Different people are saying different things. The only problem i see with going from eBay vs dell is the return policy. Right now dell has the easy returns with no restocking fees etc. Im not sure if you will get this if you go through eBay.

So a week after you get the laptop on eBay and decide its too hot, you have to pay 2-300 dollars to return it vs a free return from dell. As for saving money at dell, just try a few different reps and haggle. Ask for discounts and threaten to move to a different rep. Took some people 5-6 different quotes.

    Thank you for your respond,

I have seen at least two posts about the temperature of the new Alienware 14 and they all say it's hot at idle, I would rather have a noisy system than a system die early of heat issue

just crank up the fans ;) and if you do end up buying go with Dell, there is a lot of things that can go wrong with an ebay transaction, and since you not even getting a lower price, definitely buy through dell.

bigtony man is right, I would definitely order straight from DELL, it does not make any sense ordering from a 3rd party when you can sit and wait for a brand new machine from the manufacturer. Lots of things can go wrong with eBay purchases and they are regularly not as good covering issues as DELL would be is that was the case.

The people selling on ebay many times do not have the system in hand and are actually ordered it when you place your bid.
