I'm hoping for an M14x for X-mas, fingers crossed, and have a few questions concerning older games.

I've used Windows 7 32 bit only, and can play them just fine. However the M14x will be Windows 7 64 bit so will they still play?

What I mean when I say old games:
Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2
    X-Com series
    Stronghold 1 and Crusader
    Civ 3
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
    Warcraft 2
    Diablo 1
    etc.

X-Com series is available on Steam

I run Baldur's Gate 2 just fine, so Civ 3 and HOMM3 should be ok.
Not sure about the others, but there are ways to play older games on new PCs.

I used to play Lands of Lore - Throne of Chaos with DOS box.

    Google and good luck!

You could always try runinng Windows 7 in XP mode if you have a problem with legacy programs.

64-bit makes no difference to the apps you use on 32-bit 99.9999999999999% of the time

Yeah, but sometime machine that has 2 GPU like M14x still cant run it, especially those legacy games, and my example was C&C Red Alert 2, on the M14x I cant get it to run (Doesnt matter what Windows 32/64bit), but when I use my friend's machine where he had only one GPU, and it run fine, he got a GT 260 and a C2Q on his machine and running fine while the M14x cannot.

just make sure you buy the professional of win7 or ultimate, because the home premium doesn´t have "xp mode"

There is almost always some way to get such games to work. Of course you could probably play those games on a cell phone now and save some money

I don't know about that. An iPod in Canada with a 3 year contract will cost you well over 2000$...

Age of Empires-Conquerors wont run. It doesn't run on any Alienware(at least that's the general consensus)
    Beware :p
