    Purchased new ram, quick question about product

    you should be good to go without touching the bios. you might be able to run slightly faster timing if you set them in the BIOS manually, but you shouldn't have any issues running them at stock speeds/timings. I did have to manually set the speeds in the bios with 1866MHz and 2133MHz RAM, which both defaulted to 1600 even though both sets were supposedly plug and play and should have auto-clocked to their rated speeds.

    Just plug them in and stay out of the BIOS. The BIOS will clock the ram down if needed for an i5 or lower i7 chips, and in an R1, the fastest ram the CPU will support is 1600mhz. (last I checked)

    If you want, run CPU-Z after you've got it all fixed up, and it will tell you the ram speed :)
