Hi all, I'm new on this forum so please forgive me if I do something wrong. I've just received my M14xR2 configured with a 500 gb HDD and a 32 gb mSATA sdd. I supposed that the installation of the operative system would be performed over the SSD, but when I checked I discovered that the OS was on the 500 gb HD and the SSD was empty.
I tried a clean installation of the operative system (Windows 8) with the Dell's Recovery Media for Windows 8, but I was unable to start it.
I haven't a Windows 8 dvd, and i don't know the product key number, because with Win 8 they removed it from the bottom of the laptop, and the client support told me that is memorized in the motherboard. Is there a way to clean install Windows 8 on the mSata in my situation?

Thanks a lot for the answers!

The way my one was set up was my 750GB HDD working in conjunction with my 32GB SSD mSATA being raided togher so the SSD was caching for the HDD, if you have turned the raid off or broken one of the disk out the raid the whole system would of fell over.

It did not matter for me as I had to break my raid as I wanted my OS on a 256 SSD.

Thanks for the replies, I've solved the situation: I've activated the acceleration mode in the Intel Rapid Storage, using the SSD as a caching unit. Now i'm using it properly, without re-installing the operative system over the SSD.
