I have an Alienware M14x R1 with High Definition (900p / 1600x900) with WLED backlight screen. There is a lighter color circle mark in the middle of the screen that happened on its own couple months ago.

I’m thinking about replacing the WLED screen. How do I learn which manufacturer’s screen I have on my M14x? Which ones are considered better? While ordering the new screen, should I order Glossy or Matte?

Also, are the microphones integrated into Webcam card and installed on top of the LED screen?

    Thanks,

I do not own the laptop so, I can't say anything about the model. You could probably find that information by calling tech support though.

As for the screen type there are a lot of comparison videos on youtube. Glossy gives more vibrant colors, but is more sensitive to the surround light. If do not intend to use your laptop outside nor plan to move it from place to place, then I would go with glossy. Matte basically gives you more flexibility to use your laptop wherever.

For replacing the screen, the mic/webcam should not be attached to the actual screen. You should be able to replace the screen without replacing the webcam/mic.

If you need a replacement screen, send us an e-mail to [email protected].

The LCD and mic are embedded in the LCD assembly we have.
