I recently moved and only used my laptop once since I have been here. I always shut it down when i am done. Recently I came home to turn on my computer after being away for the weekend. Nothing happened....was a little weird but none the less i tried again and nothing. I unplugged the power adapter tried again, nothing. Took the bottom off and unplugged the battery and plugged in the power adapter, still nothing. The battery has a full charge and the adapter stays lit when plugged in. Also thought it might be the power button card cable. Still no joy. Should i get a new power button card and cable? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Alienware M14x not sure if it's an r1 or r2. Not sure how to check.

Check the voltage going to the power button (should be around 3v) and check if the voltage lowers to 0v when the power button is pressed.
If theres no voltage going to the power button then either a fuse or MOSFET is shorted somewhere before the power button or the power button ribbon is damaged. If there is voltage going to the power button but it doesnt lower to 0v when pressing the button then the power button would need to be replaced.

Try the last suggestion. That way you will make sure if it is the power button or any other component.

Installed new button board and cable. Plugged in power cable and charging light came on. Pushed the button. It started up but nothing on the screen and all LEDs were on. It would not power off, had to pull the battery. Would not light up when reconnected, or turn on. Probably a mb issue. Any help or suggestions would be most helpful.
