I have a strange problem. If i have my external monitor connected when I put the laptop to sleep it shuts down altogether. On reboot I have an event 41 (kernel power loss) every time. When I unplug the monitor and put it to sleep it work just fine. I have a feeling it has something to do with the nvidia card, although I can not be certain since I can not force the nv card to be used with the internal monitor. Does anyone have any experience with this problem, or any possible fix?

it doesnt matter what method i use to put it to sleep. i.e. after set time, shut screen, select from shut down menu.

Really short of reinstalling windows i doubt theres a solution. Sometimes sleep just doesnt work right.

I have done a full reformat twice (not because of this issue).

I should have noted that after the computer shuts down instead of sleeping I get a message at boot about the bios not being able to verify my power adapter. This message persists at boot until i unplug the battery, boot, shut down, reconnect battery, and boot again. Afterwhich the message only again appears after I have tried to put the computer to sleep with the external monitor being used. Sleep without the monitor plugged in works perfectly, with no power issues.

Does anyone have any bright ideas about my issue?

I suppose I will just have to unplug the external monitor when I want my m14x to sleep.

I think it is your external monitor problem, because on every reboot, the laptop will be doing the POST (Power-On Self Test) testing to check if all hardware is good to go, if it detect any problem then it will alert you by sounding beeping sound or display a bunch of codes.

it gets through POST fine. no beeps or error beside the occasional power adapter warning. epsa also shows no issues.
