    Hi guys!,

you see this is my last resort i dont know where to turn to, google has no answers at all so.

Well my problem is that my Alienware 14 was amazing when it first arrived! Easily getting 300fps in minecraft Cod 4-mw3 and even 45-60 on bf3 and bf4!! However now all of a sudden its acting retarded!
my alienware only achieves a locked like 30fps in all games! with the same settings?
I Have done everything re installed drivers uninstalled them earthing but a clean install which i cant do as im at school.
All my pc settings are fine everything to performance no power saver or anything!

However one thing i can say is when i contacted dell they took control of my system and i did a 3d mark 11 test and all of a sudden boom back to normal fps! but the problem is that that as temporary! its back to being stupid again and believe me the 3d mark test doesn't work anymore! Please guys help me!

    Thanks in advance!

    Arjun

The problem either to do with integrated graphics, or throttling due to not being plugged in. Is you laptop plugged in when you are running the games?

Damn I had this very same problem in the beginning, didn't knew hot to use the new optimus technology back then when I first got my m14x r1. With my friends it was always enabeling the nvidia GPU from bios or a switch that required a restart. But I didn't knew and Stupidly I even tried to disable the integrated graphics card completely so that the nvidia card was used forced. BUT that caused my screen to go completely black, even in the bios. Luckely HDMI uses forced Nvidia allowing me to fix it back with an external monitor.

But just as Porras said. You have to configure for every game weather to use the Nvidia GPU or the integrated. You can also do it simply by right-click on the game exe or shortcut (steam url shortcuts won't work) -> "run with graphics card" -> choose nvidia. And the nvidia 3D settings pannel as shown on Porras's link will show up.
