    Hello everyone,
I have an Alienware M14x, with the GT555 M graphics card. Could someone please ellaborate whether it is standard for the graphics adaptor to only work using the HDMI out?

Ever since I got the laptop the performance on game playing just on the laptop itself is pretty much non usable. I have tried everything I can think of including updating to new drivers, having a Dell technician (no help at all) out to replace my motherboard and setting the GT555 as the default gfx for all applications, but to no avail. The only way I can play game is by using an external HDMI monitor, which seems to switch over to the gt555m.

When I try to play Skyrim, I do not even have the option to use the gt555 from the launcher. I think maybe the problem is that all the games these days run from a launcher and it never gives the laptop the choice to run off the other graphics card. I have even tried uninstalling the standard graphics driver which just saw both adaptors disappear.

Could someone please inform me whether my laptop is supposed to be able to play games just on its own or is the GT555 for external HDMI only?
I have spent hours on the phone to Dell and they just do the same thing over and over. Not to mention replacing my new motherboard with a refurb!

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but yes I have already tried the whitelisting programs, as well as trying to apply the gt555 for the global setting -taking off auto selection to have gt555 at primary adaptor

I am having the exact same problem on my wife's M14XR1. HDMI out works but not the monitor. I tried everything under the sun and was planning on calling Dell but obviously they are not much help either.

Hmm I'm trying to think, as I know this can be very fustrating. I guess worse case scenario I'd get a replacement if your still within the time frame or just get another different laptop. There isnt a BIOS option to disable the integrated GPU to force the nVidia adapter only? That's the only thing I can think of, sorry for your troubles.
