    Partitioning Help

    I received my Alienware today(finally with the new processor :D :cool: )
    Anyway, when I was trying to create partitions with the in built software in Win7, it didn't shrink much space up.
    I have a 500 GB disk, with just 1 main partition(+1 recovery of 21GB) named OS and has 440 GB with more than 400GB free, but in shrink space it shows only about 218GB(even after defragmentation).
    How am I supposed to shrink it more than that?
    (I want a 70-80GB OS disk, in which I will keep nothing but the OS)

    Use G parted, download it and burn it to a disc, make sure to make it a bootable disc. Then shut down, boot the cd, ect. ect.

    I had the same.
    Went into MyComputer>Manage>Disk Management
    Then shrank C: partition (right click>Shrink), that left me a free space, in which I created Logical partition.
    All works.
